The Pigeon Creek Shakespeare Company will present a free performance of Shakespeare 101 on May 15 at 2 p.m. at the Saugatuck-Douglas History Center, 130 West Center Street in Douglas. This performance is sponsored by the History Center and the Saugatuck-Douglas Library.


Shakespeare 101 is a one-hour program of scenes from multiple Shakespeare plays, which gives audiences a lively introduction to Shakespeare and his works. The program includes scenes from the plays Henry V, The Tempest, The Merchant of Venice, Macbeth, Hamlet, Romeo and Juliet, and A Midsummer Night’s Dream. The performance will take place in the garden of the History Center’s schoolhouse site, and audience members are encouraged to bring blankets or lawn chairs to enjoy the show.


The Pigeon Creek Shakespeare Company is a touring company based in West Michigan. Actors featured in this production are Chase Decker, Lauren Heyboer, Maggie Hinckley, Calvin Kim, Samantha Luken, and Josh Youngsma.
