The Saugatuck-Douglas District Library's Virtual Village Show is now online! Sixty-eight members of our community contributed their photos in the categories of Flowers, Produce, Arts and Crafts and Baking, with a total of just over one hundred entries for the whole show. We drew names at random for five prizes - congratulations to Lois, Lisa, Kirstin, Dennis and David, who each won a $20 gift certificate to a local business.
In case you missed the Library's communications about this in recent weeks, the concept was based on a traditional British Village Show, a community event which would usually be held in a Village Hall at the end of summer. Because our show is entirely photo-based, we were able to accept submissions over a longer period of time. Contributors got to submit their baked goods but also to eat them, not to mention leave their squash to ripen on the vine, keep their flowers to attract butterflies to their yards, and give their arts and crafts to friends and family members.
We hope you'll enjoy seeing all the entries, and reading the exhibitors' comments about each one.
Each slide show has been converted to a video on YouTube, which you can view by clicking on the links below. Each takes about five minutes to view, but if you need more time to read the comments you can pause at any time.
