Before there was Art School many learned by copying Master works. This is still a great practice for learning technique and Art History. It also is an incredible way to get into the head of other artists. We will break down a few different works, interpret them, and have fun making our own. Depending on how quickly you work, you may bring home as many as three different Masterpieces!

This class is co-sponsored by the Saugatuck Douglas Art Club.

Dawn Stafford is a full-time artist working in the Saugatuck-Fennville area in her historic schoolhouse studio ca 1867, the Peachbelt Studio, purchased and renovated in 2003. Her oil paintings of rural fauna & flora, and everyday objects explore diverse color palettes, rhythms, and harmonies that lean toward abstraction. She has been both student of Oxbow and staff member since 1996 as Art on the Meadow instructor. She also offers workshops at her studio in the Summer. Originally from New York, she received her BFA from Swain School of Design in Massachusetts before moving to Michigan in 1992. Peachbelt Studio is open May-October, Fri, Sat, Sun 11-5pm or by chance or appointment. www.peachbeltstudio.com / @peachbeltstudio on FB & Instagram.
