Weekly Programs

Young Actors Workshop
with the Saugatuck Center for the Arts


June 17-21 from 9:00am-12:00pm
For kids going into 1st-3rd grade 

June 17-21 from 1:30-4:30pm
For kids going into 4th-6th grade 

Join us as we create and perform an original adaptation of a children's book. Campers will try their hand at playwriting while exploring the tools of the actor, learning the basics of performance, playing theatre games, and connecting with each other. The camp culminates in a performance for families and friends on the last day of camp.

Sew Fun Jr. 
REGISTRATION CLOSED 
Thursdays from 10:30-11:30am
July 11 - August 1
For kids going into 1st-3rd grade
Learn simple sewing skills and work on fun projects. At the last session, each kid will have a chance to use a real sewing machine!

Sew Fun: Quilt Making
REGISTRATION CLOSED
July 22-26 from 1:00-3:00pm
For kids going into 4th-6th grade
This week-long sewing class will teach kids all the skills they need to create their own small quilt.

Tuesdays between 10:30am-12:00pm

Stop by the Library patio with a parent or grown-up any time between 10:30am and 12:00pm to create fun art!

Storytime
Wednesdays from 10:30-11:30am
June 12 - July 31
For kids 1-5 (siblings welcome too!) 
Join us for a morning of books, music and play. Listen to stories, sing songs, and get moving with action rhymes and silly dances. Stick around for a time of open-ended play: toys, play dough, sand & water tables as well as art activities.

LEGO Lab
Every other Wednesday from 6:00-8:00pm

All Ages (In order to work with our advanced kits, children under age 7 must be accompanied by an adult.)
BUILD with LEGOs. We will have all our LEGOs available including our robotics and machine kits. Complete challenges or build and race your own vehicles. Stick around for frozen treats.

Summer Reading Kick-Off

Friends from the Critter Barn are coming to help us welcome summer. Pet the animals and sign-up for the Adventure Begins at Your Library reading challenge.

Stuffed Animal Sleepover
Thursday, June 20 from 6:30-7:30pm
All Ages
Wear your pjs and bring a favorite doll or stuffed animal for stories, songs, crafts and a bedtime snack. Leave your animal to spend the night and pick them up the next day. All participants will receive a printed picture book of their animal's adventures in the Library.

Maciek the Magician

Young Listeners Concert

Join us for this children’s concert featuring the Bayberry String Quartet. This event is co-sponsored by the Chamber Music Festival of Saugatuck.

Adventure Begins at Your Library
Summer Reading Challenge
Starts June 13
All ages up to 5th grade
Read for 30 days this summer and earn cool prizes. (Dairy Dayz ice cream cone, Pizza Hut coupon, Whitecaps tickets, Griffins tickets, and a book!) Pick up your reading log at the Library and pick out a FREE book just for signing up (starting on June 13). 

New this year: complete your reading challenge by July 31 and you will be entered into the state-wide Grand Prize drawing! Readers from across Michigan will be competing to win a Boyne Mountain overnight adventure including lodging, passes to Avalanche Bay and SkyBridge Michigan.
Five winners will get Priority Health backpacks filled with books, toys, tickets to family fun spots such as Craig’s Cruisers, Air Zoo, Meijer Gardens, John Ball Zoo and more.

Summer Read-A-Thon
June-August 
For kids and teens going into 6th-12th grade
Read 5 books and get a gift certificate to Dairy Dayz! Every 5 books you read counts as one entry into the grand prize drawing, so the more you read, the better your chances! One winner will receive a $50 gift card to Meijer, Target, or Amazon! Pick up your reading log at the Library.

Library Lock Ins
For kids going into 6th-8th grade
The Library closes at 6:00 and then the kids take over. We’ll be having fun hanging out in the Library after hours. Each week will be a different activity. Registration is required for each event. CLICK HERE TO SIGN UP.
